Community Youth Network, Inc. (CYN) is a private not-for-profit corporation with its office centrally located in Lake County (Grayslake). CYN is celebrating its 30th Anniversary this year and we are proud of this length of service to Lake County residents. CYN was incorporated in 1978 and the initial program was an innovative effort in inter-agency case coordination to a target population of the most serious child abuse and neglect cases in Lake and McHenry Counties. CYN has continued to develop expertise in multi-disciplinary case coordination by expanding on the original program effort. The agency has expanded its scope over the past twenty-five years by developing programs that provide specialized counseling in the areas of Comprehensive Youth Service, Child Sexual Abuse, Physical Child Abuse and Neglect, Family Preservation and Delinquency Prevention. The Community Youth Network is licensed as a Child Welfare Agency by the State of Illinois and is a member agency of the Lake County United Way.
Community Youth Network has developed, over the years, an extensive program addressing the needs of sexual abuse victims and their families. The program provides individual, group, and family counseling, play therapy, and trauma assessments to child victims of sexual abuse and their families. It also provides education/support groups for non-offending parents. We offer our specialized counseling services both on an outpatient and an outreach basis. CYN holds purchase of service contracts with the Department of Children and Family Services to provide counseling for sexual abuse, physical abuse and neglect for DCFS clients in Lake County. We also receive support from United Way of Lake County for our efforts with this population and with private clients seeking our assistance. CYN also holds counseling contracts with various child placement agencies to provide our specialized treatment to children in their care.
